Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, IBBU 2nd combined convocation ceremony has been postponed indefinitely.

Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai hereby announces the postponement of its 2nd Combined Convocation Ceremony earlier scheduled for Saturday, March 31st, 2018. The postponement is due to some unforseen circumstances.

A new date will be announced later.

The Council, Senate and Management sincerely regret any inconveniences caused to our esteemed visitors, Graduands, Parents and the General Public.

Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU), Lapai, graduated Twenty Nine (29) First Class honour degrees.

Twenty Nine out of over 6,000 Students of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai have graduated with First Class honour degrees from various undergraduate programmes of the Institution between 2013/14 to 2016/2017 academic sessions.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Nasir Maiturare made this known while speaking at a Press Briefing on the 2nd combined Convocation Ceremony of the University, held at the Conference Room of the Consultancy Services Unit of the Institution.

Professor Maiturare explained that 1,281 students which represent 20.2 percent of total number graduated in the Second Class Upper Division, while 3,290 and 1,613 students representing 51.8 percent and 25.4 percent graduated with Second Class Lower Division and Third Class Degree respectively.

The Vice-Chancellor pointed out that the University graduated 135 students with Pass Degree, which would be the last to be awarded in the Institution in line with the National Universities Commission’s (NUC) policy.

He stated that the number of First Class honours recorded was as a result of conscientious efforts of the students and faculty members of the University as well as provision of state-of-art teaching and learning facilities by the Management; adding that the best students would be presented with certificates and prizes during the 2nd combined convocation ceremony.

The Vice-Chancellor pointed out that during the convocation, 82 students who have successfully completed their studies from the Postgraduate School of the University would be awarded with Postgraduate Diploma Certificates, while a total of 36 students would also be presented with Masters Certificates in their respective disciplines.

Professor Maiturare said that the University was rapidly developing both in academic programmes and infrastructural facilities, emphasising that quality assurance system and strategic actions were being taken to ensure that IBB University ranks among best in the comity of its peers worldwide.

He stated that the 2nd convocation ceremony was very critical to the University as N7billion Endowment Funds for some laudable projects would be re- launched and a renowned Educationalist and Islamic Scholar, Dr. Sheikh Ahmad Lemu would be honoured for his contributions to the education sector and humanity with Honorary Doctorate Degree (Causa) and the Group Managing Director of NNPC, Dr. Mai kanti Kachalla Baru would also be formally awarded Fellowship of the University in recognition of his unwavering support to the development of IBB University.

Among other events lined up for the ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor said were, Convocation Lecture to be delivered by the former Vice-Chancellor, University of Ibadan, Professor Olufemi Adebisi Bamiro on “State University Funding in a Depressed Economy: Implications for Global Competitiveness” and Commissioning of multi-million naira projects on the campus by the Visitor/Executive Governor of Niger State, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello.

Professor Maiturare stated that the ceremony commenced with a memorial lecture in honour of a legendary Writer, late Abubakar Gimba on “An Oasis in the Desert: Abubakar Gimba and the Tradition of the Nigerian Novel” delivered by Professor Ahmad Babajo of Kaduna State University.

The deadline for registration at the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU), Lapai,  for the 2018/2019 academic session and the date for commencement of lectures have been announced. See IBBU registration deadline and lectures commencement date below.

This is to inform all the students of the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU), Lapai, that the management of the institution has announced the date for the commencement of lectures and registration deadline for the 2018/2019 academic session.

IBBU management has approved commencement of full lectures by Monday, 11th March, 2019 for all academic programmes.

Both fresh and returning students are to note that registration has been on-going and thereby advised to ensure the completion of their registration exercise on or before Friday, 15th March, 2019.

Students are to note that no further extension for registration exercise would be accommodated.

All interested applicants should visit the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai website portal: portals.ibbu.edu.ng/pgapp for available courses, requirements, details of purchase, filling and submission of the online forms. Please note the following information:

1. The cost of each application form is N17,800.00 only.

2. The phone numbers and e-mail addresses of the applicant should reflect on the online application form

3. The phone numbers and e-mail addresses of the applicant’s referees should be included on the online application form

4. Please ensure that you have the basic entry requirements of five O’Level Credits including English and Mathematics in not more than two sittings

5. Regardless of the institution where the Bachelor’s degree is obtained, all candidates shall apply early for their academic transcript to be sent to the Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies, IBBU Lapai

6. Candidates are to be subjected to a written test on a date to be announced later.
