Former KADPOLY lecturer commits suicide after shooting his wife

Mr. Austin Umerah, a former Principal Lecturer with the Department of Languages, Kaduna Polytechnic has reportedly killed himself at his residence at Kigo road in Kaduna on Wednesday, November 18 by 10pm,.

Austin reportedly shot his wife Dr. Maurin Umerah, a part-time lecturer at the Department of Languages, Kaduna State University (KASU), before turning the gun on himself.

It was further gathered that his wife is currently receiving treatment at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna, while the deceased corpse has been deposited at the Barau Dikko mortuary.

The incident has been confirmed by the Kaduna police spokesperson, ASP Mohammed Jalige.

KADPOLY Student Sentenced to 5 years Jail Term for Fraud

Justice Mohammed Tukur, of the Kaduna State High Court sitting in Kaduna on Wednesday, October 21, sentenced one Babuwa Christopher, a student of Quantity Survey, Kaduna state polytechnic to five years imprisonment for fraud. 

According to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the convict was arrested at a lodge in Barnawa, Kaduna, based on intelligence reports on his involvement in cyber crime. 

KADPOLY Student Sentenced to 5 years Jail Term for Fraud

The officials said fraudulent documents including Debit cards of several tier-one banks in Nigeria, bearing different names were recovered from him during his arrest. 

The student was convicted after he pleaded guilty to an amended one-count criminal charge. Justice Tukur, then convicted and sentenced him to five years imprisonment with an option of One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000) fine.

Kaduna Polytechnic proposed amendment to 1st/3rd semester 2019/2020 academic session

Sequel to the suspension of Academic activities as a result of COVID19 pandemic and the need to conclude the 1st/3rd semester 2019/2020 Academic session in the earnest, the APAC sub-committee on Academic calendar met and proposed the attached amended academic calendar based on conclusion with the kaduna polytechnic post COVID19 Task force for the remaining period of 1st/3rd semester 2019/2020 session 

Major highlights 

Kaduna Polytechnic proposed amendment to 1st/3rd semester 2019/2020 academic session
  • The remaining weeks for 1st/3rd semester for the programmes ranges from 3 weeks to 10 weeks 
  • The 1st/2nd phases will commence on Monday 26th October 2020 and 16th October 2020 while the 3rd phase will be on the 4th January 2021 respectively. 
  • The period of examination remains 2 weeks 
  • Presentation of the 1st/3rd semester examination is 15th &-8211; 27th March. 2021.
  • HNDII and NDII Evening programmes are scheduled to commence the 2nd/4th semester from 30th November 2020 &-8211; 27th March. 2021 (2wks after examination). This is to forestall the constant complaint of staying too long in the system. 
  • The 2nd/4th semester of 2019/2020 Academic session for Diploma students will be from 8th February &-8211; 5th June. 2021

Pre-HND
Candidates with Polytechnic Diploma, University Diploma, IJMB, First Degree or National Diploma may be considered for Direct Admission into appropriate National Diploma Programmes.

Pre NCE
1. Admission Requirements
1.1 Pre NCE (Technical) SSC/NTC with at least three credits and two passes in not more than two sittings.

The credits must include English Language and Physics and any other Science subject or TCII with
credits/merits in the said subjects.

1.2 Pre NCE (Special Needs) SSC/NTC/NBC with at least three credits and two passes in not more than two sittings. The credits must include English Language and any two from History, Government, Biology, Chemistry or Agricultural Science or TCII with credits/merits in the said subjects.

2. Transition to NCE
At the end of the two semesters, students are to proceed to the respective NCE programmes provided they obtained a CGPA of 1.50 and scored the minimum Cut-Off Point at the JAMB UTME. They are however, exempted from Post UTME.

NOTES:
(i) Admission brochure is available on the portal for candidates to acquaint themselves with the admission requirements of all the above mentioned programmes.
(ii) Application should be made not LATER THAN 4th October, 2020 when the portal for admission shall be closed.

METHOD OF APPLICATION

Candidates are to log unto Kaduna Polytechnic School Portal on http//www.kadunapolytechnic.edu.ng and follow the Remita payment option logo to access the Kaduna Polytechnic page.

Amount payable is N8,000.00 only.

KADPOLY Matrculation Ceremony for 2019/2020 session has been announced. The Academic Board of the Kaduna State Polytechnic (KADPOLY) wishes to invite all Students and the General Public to the Matriculation Ceremony of students for 2019/2020 academic session scheduled to hold as follows:

Important Notice to all Matriculating Students

All concerned and the general public are hereby notified that this matriculation exercise marks the end of admission for the year 2019, 2020 academic session.

All new students are reminded that their admission remain provisional until they matriculate.

This means that they must be present in person at the matriculation ceremony on the 19th March, 2020.

Appearance by proxy will not be accepted.

All matriculating students are required to collect their matriculation oath forms and academic gown loans forms from their respective departments.

The academic gowns should be collected from Academic Affairs Division, Central Administration after the payment of N200 (Two hundred Naira) only to the Kaduna Polytechnic Micro Finance Bank.

Only duly-filled matriculation oath forms will be collected back at the venue of the matriculation exercise.

Failure to submit the form at the venue will mean automatic forfeiture of admission by the student concerned.
