Ilorin COE student goes missing while returning from school

The distraught family of 22-year-old Rabiat Yetunde Garba is seeking help in establishing her whereabouts following her disappearance in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The student of the Department of Chemistry and Integrated Science at the College of Education, Ilorin, was last seen on Thursday, March 17, when she left her residence at Adabata, Ilorin, for school. She was said to have gotten to the lecture hall, but upon realizing that she forgot her assignment at home, she dropped her bag with her friends and rushed home to get the assignment.

According to Rabiat&-8217;s father, Abdullahi Garbais, she is believed to have gone missing on her way home to get the assignment, and all efforts to locate her have been futile. 

He explained that the students usually go to school from home and would return around 5 pm, but on the said day, they waited till 9 pm and didn&-8217;t hear from her, then it occurred to them that something may have happened to her.

The aggrieved father said the matter had been reported at the Surulere Police Station.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENT

  1. Admission by Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination UTME candidate must satisfy the following minimum requirements
    1. Five credit passes in SSCE (WAEC, NECO and NABTEB) obtained at not more than two sittings
    2. Five Credit Passes in Teachers Grade II Examination including English Language
    3. Candidate must have written and passed the 2020 UTME conducted by the JAMB
    4. Candidate&-8217;s score at the last UTME (2020) must not be less than the prescribed national cut-off mark i.e 180
    5. Success at the post UTME screening exercise to be conducted by admitting college.
  2. Direct Entry Candidate: 3-Year Full-Time Programme.
    Candidates must satisfy the following entry requirements

    1. pass at credit/merit level in two subjects at the NCE with GCE &-8216;O&-8217;level credit or its equivalent in three subjects, including English, A pass at the NCE General English is accepted in lieu of credit at the SSCE/GCE/&-8217;O&-8217;level
    2. Two passes at the advanced level GCE with SSCE/GCE &-8216;O&-8217;level credit passes in three other subjects including English Language.
    3. Admission of Direct Entry Candidate is, however, subject to success at the Post UTME screening exercise to be conducted by the admitting college
    4. Three passes at the advanced level GCE with SSCE/GCE &-8216;O&-8217;level credit passes in two other subjects including English Language.

METHOD OF APPLICATION

Application for Post UTME screening will be done on the College portal. 

The application fee is N2,000.

Interested applicants are to effect a change of Institution to Kwara State College of Education Ilorin (Affiliated to Ekiti State University) Kwara State on JAMB portal. A change, of course, may also be required if the course you want to apply for is not the one you initially chose while filling your UTME (JAMB) form.
