Notice to all the graduands of the Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo (ACEONDO) as regards the 34th Combined Convocation Ceremony.

Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo (ACEONDO) Notice to Graduands

The management of the Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo (ACEONDO) released the following information to all 2016/2017, 2015/2016, 2014/2015 and 2012/2013 sessions graduands:

(i) Graduands are to collect their academic outfits from Tuesday 2nd October, 2018 between 8.00am. and 4.00p.m. in their respective Schools on payment of a sum of Five thousand naira (N5,000.00 for gown and convocation brochure). Complete robes must be returned immediately after the Convocation Ceremony. Any delay in return of the academic outfit will attract a fine of N500.00 per day from Monday, 15th October, 2018.

(ii) Each graduand is entitled to a guest card. The cards will be available for collection as from Tuesday 2nd October, between 8.00a.m and 4.00p.m. daily.

(iii) Graduands should assemble in their respective Schools at the Quadrangle not later than 8:30a.m.Wednesday, 10th October, 2018 fully robed and seated in the places allocated to them. All graduands are strongly advised to comply with this arrangement to avoid any rush or disappointment.

The programme of events for the 34th Convocation Ceremony of the Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo (ACEONDO) 2016/2017, 2015/2016, 2014/2015 and 2012/2013 sets.

Adeyemi College of Education Convocation Ceremony Programme of Events

Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo 34th Convocation Ceremony for the Award of Degrees, Certificates, Diplomas and presentation of prizes and fellowships will take place on Wednesday 10th October, 2018.

The 34th Convocation ceremony is for all students who were successful in the final examinations for degree, NCE and Diploma programmes of the College for the 2016/2017, 2015/2016, 2014/2015 and 2012/2013 sessions.

THE Provost of Adeyemi College of Education (ACE), Ondo, Prof Olukoya Ogen, on Monday said the college would soon be converted to a university, saying the Federal Government has no plan to dump the idea of upgrading the institution to a university.

Ogen who disclosed this in Ondo, during a press conference to herald the 34th convocation ceremony of the institution, however, said plans had reached advanced stage to complete the upgrade of the College to university.

He said the upgrade was temporarily put on hold because there was no enabling law to support the upgrade to university status.

The Provost assured that the process would be completed in due course after the passage into law by the House of Representatives and the final ascent by President Buhari, disclosing that the Senate had passed the law to upgrade the institution.

Speaking on the convocation, Ogen said about 12,628 graduands would be churned out with different certificates in education during the 34th convocation ceremony of the institution.

Ogen said convocation ceremony would combine graduates of the institution who have graduated from the institution in the last four years, attributing the delay in the convocation ceremonies to financial constraints.

He said the institution has to choose between holding an annual ceremony at the expense of tangible development projects in the school.

Ogen said out of the 12,628 graduating students, 6, 298 students would graduates with National Council of Education (NCE), 5, 688 with the first degree in education, 51 with the diploma, 53 in Postgraduate diploma of education and the rest 538 in the sandwich and part-time programmes.

Speaking on the activities lined up for the ceremony, he said a convocation lecture will come up on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, and will be delivered by Prof. Toyin Falola from University of Texas with the title ” Educational Wealth.”

He said Conferment of Degrees, Fellowship and award of certificates and prizes will come up on Wednesday, 10th October while a special day would be dedicated to the celebration of teachers.

He disclosed that four eminent personalities including the Secretary of Pan Yoruba Socio-political group, Afenifere, Bashorun Seinde Arogbofa, Prof. Falola, among others would be conferred with fellowship and awards of the institution.

Dr. Samuel Akintunde, has been appointed as Acting Provost of the Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo.

Council Appoints Dr. Samuel Akintunde as Acting Provost of Adeyemi College

The Governing Council of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo has appointed Dr. Samuel Akintunde as the Acting Provost of the College, following the exit of the former Provost, Professor Olukoya Ogen, who completed a four-year single tenure on Tuesday, 16th October, 2018.

According to the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mrs. Olufisayo Fakorede, the Council approved the appointment of Dr. Akintunde as Acting Provost of the College at its meeting held on Friday, 12th October, 2018.

The Registrar hinted that the appointment takes effect from 17th October, 2018 in a letter dated 15th October, 2018 referenced RPA/AKI/P.1800/307.

“I therefore write on behalf of Council to offer you appointment as the Acting Provost of the College with effect from Wednesday, 17th October, 2018,” the letter stated.

As the Acting Provost, Akintunde has been “charged with the general responsibility for matters relating to the day to day management operations of the College and also perform other functions as the Council may, from time to time, assign” him.

Akintunde is the second alumni to head the institution following Professor Ogen, the first alumnus to head the College, while he was the first alumnus of the institution to be appointed as Deputy Provost in the 54 years of existence of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo.

Until his appointment, Dr. Akintunde was first appointed on 12th April, 2016 as Deputy Provost of the College and his second term was renewed on 12th April, 2018 to end on 11th April, 2020.

He is a graduate of Geography Education in the then School of Applied Arts and Science and has a Master of Education (M.Ed.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Social Studies from the foremost university in Nigeria, University of Ibadan, Ibadan.

The new helmsman in the College has been a lecturer in the Department of Social Studies in the last two decades and risen to the rank of Chief Lecturer.

He was a one-time Chairman, Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU), Adeyemi College of Education Chapter.

Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo (ACEONDO) second semester, 2017/2018 academic session examination commencement date.

ACEONDO Exam Date

The management of the Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo (ACEONDO) has set a new date for the  commencement of the 2017/2018 2nd Semester examination.

The examinations that was earlier postponed because of the strike embarked upon by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC). will now commence on 17th December, 2018.
